Terms & Conditions for Attendees
Terms & Conditions - The Basics
Generally speaking, T&C often address these types of issues: Who is allowed to use the website; the possible payment methods; a declaration that the website owner may change his or her offering in the future; the types of warranties the website owner gives his or her customers; a reference to issues of intellectual property or copyrights, where relevant; the website owner’s right to suspend or cancel a member’s account; and much, much more.
To learn more about this, check out our article “Creating a Terms and Conditions Policy”.
What to Include in the T&C Document
Tutor Terms and Conditions – In-Person Craft Workshops
Welcome to Mini Scale Workshops UK (the "Platform/Organiser" ("we", "us", or "our"). These Terms and Conditions (the "Agreement") govern your application to become a craft tutor at events we manage on our Platform.

By completing and submitting the Tutor Application Form, you ("Tutor", "you", or "your") agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Application, Pricing, and Booking Deposit
-
Accurate Information. You agree that all information provided in your application form is accurate, truthful, and complete.
-
Application forms will be considered in the order in which they are received and also if they can provide appropriate scale, quality, cost fee and topic - varying to other workshops being considered. More than one Application can be made, to increase options on workshop topics for the Organiser to consider.
-
In case of multiple application requests from different tutors, we will accept tutors who are travelling internationally first, when the workshop dates are prior to the tutor being an exhibitor at the Kensington Dolls House Festival in May or November/December each year.
-
Date/Session allocation: We will do our best to assign you to teach in the session you request but please insert your special requirements and any alternate sessions on the Application form.
-
Please note that you cannot advertise your workshop until the complete list of all workshops is published on this website, (which we will inform you of). This is so potential attendees can consider all of the workshop options on offer.
-
Tutor Fee Structure. When applying, you must specify your required fee per person (total and then the amount per attendee per hour). This fee must be calculated based on hosting an in-person workshop with a strict minimum of 5 attendees. (Maximum will depend on table sizes, anticipating maximum per workshop (if fully booked) being 10 or 11 attendees or if the tutor indicates a smaller workshop size preference (5 attendee on one table).
-
Platform Listing Price. You acknowledge that the Organiser will calculate, determine, and indicate the final price per person, per hour for each workshop based on the specific venue/organiser costs.
-
Booking Deposit. Upon your application being accepted and the workshop being scheduled, you agree to pay a booking deposit depending on the length of your workshop:
-
£160.00 per half day/evening workshop length (2.5-3.5 hours)
-
£225.00 per 1 day length workshop (7 hours)
-
£375.00 per 2 day workshop (14 hours)
-
This deposit comprises a non-refundable £50 administration fee and the remainder would be refunded after the workshop has been delivered, unless a cleaning up fee of the workshop delivery/tables area is needed, when £40 is charged).
-
Payment Method. The deposit must be paid via payment on our platform to our ‘Wise Account’ (A digital account. Payments can be processed in multiple currencies supported by Wise at the real-time exchange rate during transaction processing).
-
Following the successful delivery of your in-person workshop, the Tutor Fee per attendee (the agreed tutor fee less 5% for Mini Scale Workshops) will be paid to you via our Wise Account within 7 business/working days after the date of the event.
-
Deposit Return Timeline. Following the successful delivery of your workshop, any eligible deposit balance will be returned to you via Wise within 7 business/working days after the date of the event.
-
Deposit Return Amounts. The deposit will be returned as detailed above, provided you comply with all venue rules. If a clean-up fee is applied, this will be deducted.
2. Workshop Logistics, Materials, and Venue Care
-
Tutor-Provided Materials. You are responsible for preparing and bringing physical materials kits for every attendee to the in-person class. The cost of these kits must be factored into your per-person fee unless explicitly stated otherwise.
-
Attendee-Provided Items. If attendees are required to bring any personal tools or items with them (e.g., aprons, specific scissors, or recycled containers), you must explicitly list these items in your application form so they can be communicated clearly on the workshop booking page.
-
Safety and Quality. You must ensure all tools and materials provided are safe, clean, and fit for purpose.
-
Venue Cleaning Requirement. You are strictly responsible for leaving the allocated workshop area clean, tidy, and in the condition it was found. If the workshop area is left uncleaned, a £50.00 clean-up fee will be deducted from your £100.00 refundable bond, reducing your deposit return to £50.00.
3. Alternative Online & Craft Kit Options (Illness Policy)
-
Illness Contingency. To accommodate attendees who cannot attend the in-person workshop due to illness, you must indicate in your application form whether you can offer an alternative online/kit option.
-
Fulfilment of Alternative Option. If you opt-in and an attendee is absent due to illness, you agree to:
-
Dispatch the physical craft kit directly to the attendee's provided address.
-
Host a live online session on a mutually agreed alternative date or provide an equivalent online instructional format as approved by the Platform.
-
4. Financial Terms and Payouts
-
Payout Schedule. Ticket earnings payouts for successfully completed workshops will be processed within 7 business days following the workshop date, independent of the 30 working days timeline allocated for deposit returns.
-
Taxes. You act as an independent contractor and are solely responsible for reporting and paying any applicable taxes arising from your earnings.
5. Cancellations and Rescheduling
-
Minimum Attendance Threshold. If a scheduled in-person workshop does not meet the minimum threshold of 5 attendees, the Platform reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the session in consultation with you.
-
Tutor Cancellations. If you cancel the delivery of an accepted workshop, your entire £157.50 booking deposit is strictly non-refundable. It will be retained in full by the Platform to cover administrative costs, venue commitments, and customer disruption. Frequent cancellations may result in the permanent termination of your tutor profile.
6. Platform Integrity and Conduct
-
Direct Booking Circumvention. You strictly agree not to solicit attendees to book workshops or buy kits outside of our Platform. Circumventing the Platform to avoid commission fees will result in immediate termination.
-
Data Privacy. You may receive attendee names, addresses (for kit delivery), or contact details. You must protect this data and are strictly prohibited from using it for independent marketing purposes.
7. Governing Law
-
This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
